GoRTFM updates and stuff
I don’t think a post can possibly get any more late than this one. Its kind of sad when you really do spend your whole day going to school and standing duty, especially since we have ’set’ schedules. Other than the typical bitch and moan, I found it disturbing that while I was in the line at Subway the other day, a Lieutenant walked up to me and informed me that having my hand in my pocket while standing out of ranks was unauthorized. Apparently he missed that section of the blue & gold stating that while out of ranks and in a stationary position, you’re authorized to place your hands in your pockets in a relaxed manner.
Regardless of the usual, I did managed to get quite a bit of work done on GoRTFM, with being happy to admit that this might really be that month I get it done *rollseyes*. I use work in the sense that after attempting to resolve an issue, I managed to end up rewriting a good chunk of the underlying-framework to the site. The admin section is almost 90% finished and I should get about 50% of the user control panel done within the following two weeks.
WSI Approval
After discussing a few ideas with wasted and bobl from whatpulse, the approval was given to go ahead and start working on a Whatpulse signature image. Originally it was located a seperate entity as a subdomain on the site, than moved to another server and went through a couple years of changes. For reasons unknown the project appears to be dying quite quickly on the private server and with a bit of collaboration its about time to bring it back to the public.
I’ve had quite a few issues regarding the old/current system involving the x/y coordinate system (who the fuck would want to set that by hand?), complexity of uploading your own background images, and the lack of integration within the official whatpulse site; which has more or less pushed me to want to start and finish this project completely. We’re first going to be figuring out the way to best going about the system as well as integration, while thats active we’ll be collecting user-submitted background images that we can use for default purposes.
I’m married!
I attempted to keep the news as covered up and on the down-low as possible, but thanks to my new wife everyone shall know. April 03 of 2009 me and my beautiful Jessica finally tied the knot. As per our distaste on the unnecessarily long process of planning, arrangements, and headaches we decided to just have a simple legal marriage in downtown Chicago. I was able to get the proper paperwork in and get off-base and out of class for Friday, and wake her up as a surprise early morning. As to my surprise the whole process of obtaining the license and having the legal ceremony wasn’t the typical hate-spree that you would endure at any time you’re visiting a public legal office, and the people were even remotely intelligent (and American). Having the opportunity to spend time with her for the weekend was absolutely amazing, even though it was too short (like always). I expect to be out of Great Lakes in July and she’ll graduate in November so it’ll be nice to have her come live with me on base and enjoy life.
