I’m home!

Finally, 6 months in the making I’m back home! Its been fun but now its time to get back to America where I don’t have to do constant conversion rates to figure out how much something costs. The whole time I was looking at different technological approaches to handle my needs, and fortunately within my fiscal means I was able to find quite a few things.

It appears that during my vacation I’ll be making a scheduled trip to Washington D.C. to visit the master of Deadheads himself…my uncle. Its been a while since I made a trip to the capital itself and we’ll be planning a trip to Harpers Ferry. Just found out as well after a few networking streams that Furthur is back on tour as well, of course they’re not coming far enough south to make a trip to see them though. I’ll keep my fingers crossed for post-new years.

Synology Diskstation 410
This thing is great. Convenient as all hell, has a perfect number of drive bays (4) and fits within my budget.

Software wise:

ApteonCD
If you’re like me and refuse to test things before completely switching your system to a new OS (like I have a dozen times before) and it just quite work out for you. Spare yourself the loss of nic and mouse compatibility issues with this app. It allows you to not only create an iso with the current configurations of your OS, but it also allows you to save all the packages you’ve got included in the system as well.

Deluge
Now as a disclaimer I only use this product to download gnu and non-copyrighted materials. I know there are probably at least 100 better programs out there suggested by a million other people, but this is my program. I love it. It works for me, so bleh.
VMWare
I love this program. It works great for people like me who aren’t too technical when it comes to servers but still need to use something to test multi-platform items. This does the trick, and it does the trick well.
