I finally finished it!

Go RTFM is finally finished and live! I decided to change the whole aspect of the side and throw away the whole community-based submission bullshit I had planned up originally. Now its a simple developer tool to help the veterans sway the little guys to start reading the fucking manual. I’m still going around gathering languages and adding their online-documentation to my current list, so comment me some suggestions if you see a language that should be up there.

According to Sam and Jamie over at libble, Sam plans on stepping down and giving his position over to some one he trusts. From what I’ve heard I’m the first person to offer their hand in the pot for Sys Op and hopefully he’ll choose me. I’ve been working on libble (the old and the current gazelle system) since I’ve been a member, and I believe that with the change of Sys Op status will get the site gearing forward again, since Sam has recently taken on a busy life.

Weekend of Code

After doing a bit of number-crunching, I’ve decided that its probably best if I stayed on base a bit more than what I’m normally used to. Financially I’m now responsible for not only myself, but for a wife AND a soon-to-be newborn. I believe that after restricting my recreational activities off-base, and not living too-lavishly until I get to my next command, I can safely assume I’ll be quite sound money-wise to set up off-base living and even a car (thats in the works as we speak). I think Jessica and I have decided that Portland, Oregon is where we’re going to rest our heads when I get out of the service.

I was working on a few projects this weekend. I managed to foobar Torrent Coil something aweful and ending up having to rewrite a chunk of the main script. I ran into a huge problem with GoRTFM regarding sessions and the error-system I was writing for it, so I’ve stopped development completely for gortfm until I can pull something out of my ass in that regard. I did manage to work on my weather script, as well as incorporate Bluesome’s Exec-PHP plugin (found here). Now you’ll see awesome weather stats for Amherst and Great Lakes on the top of the right-sidebar, you can even click the link and enter your own area-code in to see your weather stats live (dorky, I know). I also started working on a small project for Cheggit.net, currently working on making the comment-system a bit more lively using ajax, stay tuned for that.

GoRTFM updates and stuff

I don’t think a post can possibly get any more late than this one. Its kind of sad when you really do spend your whole day going to school and standing duty, especially since we have ’set’ schedules. Other than the typical bitch and moan, I found it disturbing that while I was in the line at Subway the other day, a Lieutenant walked up to me and informed me that having my hand in my pocket while standing out of ranks was unauthorized. Apparently he missed that section of the blue & gold stating that while out of ranks and in a stationary position, you’re authorized to place your hands in your pockets in a relaxed manner.

Regardless of the usual, I did managed to get quite a bit of work done on GoRTFM, with being happy to admit that this might really be that month I get it done *rollseyes*. I use work in the sense that after attempting to resolve an issue, I managed to end up rewriting a good chunk of the underlying-framework to the site. The admin section is almost 90% finished and I should get about 50% of the user control panel done within the following two weeks.
